Over the past few months I have been working with a student from the Australian Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) at their Mt Gravatt Campus. His name is Gurpreet Singh and he’s a Diploma of Graphic Design student who was paired with me to complete a work experience project as part of his course.
Gurpreet’s project requires him to liaise with me as a small business owner to create marketing materials for AccountLink. His finished design works will be used as digital and print advertising for an upcoming promotion. He is being supervised by Sue Cake (Media) and Roz Stokes (Design) who are both experienced teachers at AIAS.
Gurpreet is developing 3 flyers: one to advertise individual Tax Returns; another to appeal to Tradies for their small business bookkeeping needs and Tax Return lodgements; and the last one is a digital flyer to inform local accountants of AccountLink’s ability to provide ongoing bookkeeping support for their clients.
By incorporating existing branding and photos from our website, Gurpreet is successfully building a thread to link our promotional materials across our website, social and printed media. He is designing the flyers using Photoshop and Illustrator, both industry standard software programs from the Adobe Suite. Throughout the project I’ve found Gurpreet to be very diligent, creative and hard working. He has been both professional and personable during all face to face consultations and email communications with me. I am more than happy with the results of his design work.
I am also excited about a future venture with the AIAS Certificate 3 Design Fundamentals students, who are looking to produce a video with their media teacher David Warrilow on how to download AccountLink’s bookkeeper’s app which will be utilised by visitors to the Apps page of the AccountLink Website.
It was wonderful to be approached and involved in these projects with AIAS and I have thoroughly enjoyed the interactions with their talented students and enthusiastic teaching staff.
